The Daren Sammy Cricket Ground is a major cricket venue in the Caribbean near Gros Islet, St Lucia. It has a seating capacity of about 15,000 and was completed in 2002. The stadium was first known as the Beausejour Cricket Ground, a name taken from the hills in the area.
It serves as the home ground for the Windward Islands cricket team and also hosts matches for Saint Lucia cricket. The first international Test match here took place in 2003 when the West Indies cricket team played against Sri Lanka. It became the first stadium in the Caribbean to host a day-night match, adding to its history.
On 21st July 2016, the ground was renamed in honour of Daren Sammy, the local star who captained the West Indies to T20 World Cup titles in 2012 and 2016. One of the stands is also named after Johnson Charles, another Saint Lucian who played in both tournament wins.
